"The series follows Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes, sheriff's deputy. Rick wakes up in a hospital after being in a coma to find the world is filled with "walkers". These walkers are similar to the zombies of George A. Romero's horror movies. He leaves to find his family and others who are still alive."

I started watching The Walking Dead in 2014 after my older brother put it on during a sleepover. Big mistake on my part, because for the next two years I was so paranoid that I thought I'd be chased by zombies anytime I went outside. Despite me being a coward who shouldn't have been watching the show at like, 9 years of age, I got hooked and still keep up with new seasons. TWD has been running since 2010, the final season is coming out sometime in 2022 if I remember correctly. The problem with keeping shows going for so many years is that they almost always go downhill. This is the case with TWD. Their formula is tired out. The group encounters another group, they fight, people die, repeat.

The show started filming it's 11th season earlier this month (October 2020). The viewcount has been declining most notably since the season 6 finale and the beginning of season 7. Why? Because TWD has a tendency to kill off characters for no good reason. I understand that the show is based on the comics, but sometimes it's better to stray from the source material.

Big spoilers upcoming for anyone who's been living under a rock. Season 6 leads up to the introduction of Negan, leader of The Saviours. And how is he introduced? Well, he bashes in the heads of two fan favourites who have been around since about the beginning. Obviously that's sad as hell, and a bunch more have died since then. Now pretty much the only good character left is Negan himself.

Have I wasted countless hours of my life on this show? Yes. If I've been watching a show for long enough, I feel obligated to keep watching until it ends. I almost think people would be better off if they started watching at season 6 rather than season 1, because then they won't be sad over important character deaths and they won't get bored of the fact that TWD repeats itself a shit ton. This is making it sound like I hate the show, but I actually really enjoy it. I'm a sucker for zombie stuff even though I've been having reoccurring nightmares about an apocalypse for 6 years at this point.

I would recommend TWD to other people as long as they have a good attention span, because I can definitely see someone losing interest pretty quickly. There are also plenty of frustrating points in the story where you think "If they'd just done this one thing differently, everything would be fine." But as I said, there's Negan. Just like the name of his group, he is the saviour of this show. His character is entertaining and not to mention badass.

Anyway, I'm like 90% sure that nobody even reads this stuff, and I'm bored. So that's the end of this crappy review.
